chick protective services

Before we got up this morning my DH and I were wondering out-loud if chick protective services (CPS) might be informed that our hen only managed to hatch 4 out of her intended 9 eggs. Maybe she should have the chicks removed from her custody for not doing everything to precise scientific specification to prevent this tragedy from ever having the potential to occur.

I was told yesterday that the local hospital reported a mom to CPS for not wanting the eye medication, vitamin K injection, or newborn screening for her baby. I do not understand what right they think they have to do this, nor how they continue to get away with it. It is WRONG.
