Pushing for respect

An OSU prof says at-home births are safe, and she wants midwives to help her prove it

An Oregon State University professor studying the safety of out-of-hospital births is on the lookout for every Oregon midwife.

Melissa Cheyney, a medical anthropologist and midwife, says it's safe for healthy mothers with low-risk pregnancies to labor at home or in a birth center under the care of an experienced midwife.
